Residents’ groups and organisations can now apply for funding to improve the lives of residents on Barnet’s largest estate thanks to a new initiative by Barnet Homes and Genesis Housing Association.

A new £30,000 funding pot has been made available to mark the launch of a new community and economic strategy for the Grahame Park Estate in Colindale.

The grants programme means residents’ groups and organisations will be able to join together to make bids of up to £3,000 towards projects that will help deliver the strategy.

Examples of projects could be running a food garden, setting up clubs and activities for young people or supporting residents on the estate into long-term employment.

Residents were able to pick up information about the funding at an event to launch the strategy at the Grahame Park Community Centre in The Concourse on Wednesday 20 February.

The event also featured a range of children’s entertainment, along with information about training and other opportunities available in and around the estate.

TheGrahame Park Estate is mostly managed by Barnet Homes, with Genesis Housing Association overseeing an ongoing £450million regeneration programme that will see around 3,000 new homes built in the area, along with community and retail facilities.

Barnet Homes Chief Executive, Tracey Lees, said: “We’re very pleased to team up with Genesis to offer these new funding opportunities for local groups and organisations.

“We hope people will take advantage of the new grants scheme to come up with really creative ideas that will make a big difference to the lives of residents on Grahame Park.”
