Planning approval has been given for 57 new homes at Coppies Grove in Brunswick Park.

The homes, which will be a mixture of larger family-sized houses and flats, will also include five wheelchair-accessible properties. The development will include homes for social rent and shared ownership, providing much-needed affordable housing for Barnet residents. The homes for social rent will be managed by Barnet Homes, Barnet Council’s arms-length management organisation.

The local community were involved in the planning process, and 85% voted informally in favour of the redevelopment of the existing buildings, rather than repair. There were no objections received as part of the planning process.

Two existing blocks, which were built using the large panel construction system and have come to the end of their lifespan, will be demolished as part of the project. The approved design also includes attractive landscaping and play space for residents to enjoy.

A grant from the Greater London Authority will support the delivery of the project, and on site is expected to begin in 2026.

Cllr Ross Houston, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Homes and Regeneration at Barnet Council said “We look forward to work starting on these high-quality homes for Barnet residents. They will provide a safe place to live, play and build a community for the families in Coppies Grove”.
