This year’s Barnet Homes Resident Awards was made bigger and better than ever by combining the occasion with their annual resident Thank You Party.
Held at Barnet House in Whetstone, It was the perfect opportunity to thank and reward Barnet Homes residents involved in associations, volunteering as well as good neighbours for their hard work and passion in contributing to the community.
Terry Rodgers, Chair of Barnet Homes, gave the opening speech and presented the awards that were decided by resident board members and Tracey Lees, Chief Executive, The Barnet Group. Awards were given out for Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, the Good Neighbour Award, Resident Group of the Year and the Staff Choice Award.
Tracey Lees, Chief Executive, The Barnet Group, said: “The Residents’ Awards is one of the events I most look forward to each year. There are so many things our residents do to make their communities more attractive and welcoming from the ever popular gardening clubs to giving their time to help other residents in the community. This year was a particularly special awards event as we combined the Thank You Party with the awards do at the same time. I would like to personally say a big thank you to Barnet Homes’ residents for all their recommendations, which helped us achieve a spot in the Top 20 Landlord’s list in the UK.”
The venue was given a festive makeover by Barnet Homes’ staff with Christmas decorations, a lavish spread of food and drink supplied by a local caterer, and thank-you cards hanging from the walls.
Barnet Homes’ contractors Mears sponsored two of the awards, which were a glass engraved trophy and £50 worth of High Street gift vouchers. Nominees did not go home empty-handed and received a framed certificate.
Performance Advisory Group (PAG) member Jan Andersson, picked up the prestigious Staff Choice Award with a fellow resident who said: “Whilst on PAG, Jan was the challenging yet the cliché critical friend. All members respected her leadership and chairing skills. She has offered continued help to the group and to the current chair.”
The evening was rounded off by a fantastic disco with DJ Nick Poole on the decks playing everyone’s favourite songs. It was great to see happy award winners and proud staff take over the dance floor, celebrating their success.
