Just after 8am this morning Barnet Homes were alerted by a resident of Clitterhouse Road, Golders Green that a meteor had just come through his roof, the ceiling and landed on his daughter’s bed. Scott Edwards, Operational Inspector (West) for Barnet Homes attended the property immediately and said “When I arrived at the property it was clear that something strange had happened as I noticed a hole in the roof and tiles and ice on the ground at the front of the property. The resident, Mr Ahmed Halhal, showed me the damage to the roof and it was identified that a large piece of ice had fallen through the pitched roof, passed again through the ceiling of the bedroom and landed on the bed. Luckily nobody was asleep in the bed at the time.”

Barnet Homes carried out emergency repairs to the roof and ceiling of the property to make it safe, with more substantial repairs to be completed by Friday 15 November.

Mr Halhal, clearly shaken by his experience, explained: “I was watching TV when I heard a loud bang upstairs. I could not believe my eyes when I saw a big hole in the roof and rocks of ice everywhere. Barnet Homes could not have done more to reassure me and make my property safe. They’re coming back tomorrow to fix the tiles and repairs. What a morning!”
