At The Barnet Group, including Barnet Homes, we believe everyone should be treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. That is why we have launched our new Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy, setting out how we will make our services more inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the needs of our diverse communities over the next four years.

We are proud to serve people from many different backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences. We know that different people can face different barriers, and we want to make sure our services work well for everyone.

Our strategy focuses on three key goals:

  • Providing fair, accessible, and inclusive services that meet the diverse needs of residents and service users.
  • Creating a fair and inclusive workplace where our staff feel respected, supported, and able to thrive.
  • Strengthening leadership and accountability, so equality, diversity, and inclusion are part of every decision we make.

As part of this work, we will improve how we understand the communities we serve, ensure our communications are accessible, listen more closely to residents from underrepresented groups, and continue supporting disabled residents to live safely and independently. We will also work with partners to help address wider inequalities linked to issues such as poverty, mental health, disability, and homelessness.

Importantly, this strategy has been shaped by feedback from customers, staff, and partners. We want to continue hearing from residents about what matters most to them and how we can improve.

We will publish regular updates on our progress and be transparent about the steps we are taking to deliver meaningful change. By 2030, we want more customers to feel they are treated fairly and with respect, better understand the communities we serve, and ensure that everyone can access our services and opportunities on an equal basis.

Equality, diversity, and inclusion are not just organisational priorities. They are essential to providing great services and building stronger communities. We look forward to working with residents to make The Barnet Group, including Barnet Homes, a place where everyone feels valued, respected, and able to belong.
