As a Barnet Homes’ tenant, you may wish to make some alterations to your property. Please remember: you must first get written permission from Barnet Homes before making any significant alterations to your home.

Unauthorised alterations
Recently, we have found unauthorised alterations which residents have had to remove. The changes were causing significant harm to their families, to their home or to surrounding properties.

If you start without permission, we will investigate the changes made. If we cannot approve the alteration ‘after the fact’, we may charge you for any repairs, or require you to put your home back to its original condition.

What alterations are permitted?
