Our Get Real project started in 2013 with one property that two young residents shared, receiving support from us to live independently, while accessing full-time education, training or employment. In 2014, we received funding to procure a 2nd home which housed three flatmates.

This year we are delighted to announce that we recently received further funding from the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) of £155k to acquire two more homes for the Get Real Project.

Barnet Homes’ Get Real project offers shared accommodation and on-going support to young people who can show a real commitment to education, training or employment. By offering a flat share rather than the social isolation of a temporary single-bed property, Barnet Homes aims to give young people who can no longer live with their family a better introduction to living independently.

Two properties are in the process of being prepared for residents. A third property has already opened and four residents have moved in.
