When Chung, a local resident living in one of our Sheltered Housing Scheme’s joined a digital support session led by Farah, one of our dedicated Digital Champions, he wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Having heard of the NHS App but never used it before, Chung came along with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
“At the time, I didn’t even know how to access the app store or download the app,” he shared. “Farah taught me everything, including how to use the tablet, download the NHS App, and register an account.”
During the session, Chung not only downloaded the app for the first time, but also explored its full range of features. He learned how to book a GP appointment, request a repeat prescription, and view his medical history, all from the comfort of his own home.
“I booked a GP appointment right there in the session,” he explained. “And I now know how to manage repeat prescriptions on my own. It’s given me a real sense of independence.”
Fay Morris, Digital Inclusion Coordinator said, “Chung’s story is a powerful reminder of how digital tools, combined with community support, can transform lives for residents who may not otherwise feel confident navigating technology.”
