Barnet Homes’ Sheltered Housing residents enjoyed a coffee for a cause this week as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Sheltered Housing staff raised over £350 through organising a ‘Big Coffee Break’ for residents and friends to buy coffee, cakes, barbeque food and other treats.
Over 50 people turned up for the event at Drummond House, Barnet, including one resident who lives on the site and cares for her disabled friend.
She said: “I’m really pleased at the number of people who have come along today to support Macmillan. It has been a nice way to get together and socialise, and many of us have had a loved one lost or relied on Macmillan help at some stage.”
Julie Riley, Director of Care and Support, said: “Thank you to everyone who organised and attended the Sheltered Housing Big Coffee Break. It has been so well supported and every pound raised will no doubt allow Macmillan to continue to make such a valuable difference to the lives of those suffering with cancer.”
