The Grahame Park estate in Colindale is one of seven areas that has been selected to take part in a new national anti-litter campaign, the brainchild of Keep Britain Tidy and The Wrigley Company.
The idea of the three month project ‘Bin it for Good’ is to encourage residents and visitors to the Grahame Park estate not to litter. The more litter that goes into the bins and the less litter on the ground will mean more money will go to the featured local charity or group.
We’ve selected three local groups who will promote the litter campaign to its fellow residents.
The three chosen local groups are: The Grahame Park Youth Project; Grahame Park Independent Living, an over-50s group and the Colindale Foodbank who support local people in need with food.
Each local group will have a month to encourage their fellow residents to reduce littering in the area.
“Barnet Homes are proud to be taking part in the Bin it for Good campaign because it is a win-win situation for Grahame Park, says Graham Ambler, Area Housing Manager, Regeneration Estates.
“One, because it encourages local residents to keep the area clear of litter, which we fully support, especially with a concenration of food shops on the main concourse. Two, because the project shines a light on local charities, they get to help with the clear-up cause and also receive a donation. So we want all Grahame Park residents to get behind Bin it for Good.”
All bins (both littering and recycling bins) within Grahame Park will be transformed into ‘charity bins’ using bin wraps and stickers. Charity pots will be up and running at Grahame Park from September 2015. Look out for more information at our Bin It for Good official launch at Grahame Park’s Urban Gamez annual sporting event, which takes place on 28 August from 12-4pm.
So next time you visit or walk around the Grahame Park Estate, look out for the charity bins and bin your litter for good in those.
