Neighbour of the Year
"June Gulle from Hendon impressed the judges with her dedication to helping and supporting her neighbours. Every day, after her morning cup of tea, June can be found clearing rubbish from her neighbours’ gardens and picking up litter in the street. All the local children look up to her and call her Nana."
Best Recycler
"Avid recycler, Marge Lacey from Burnt Oak, was nominated by neighbours in her sheltered housing scheme. Marge says she got serious about recycling when the communal rubbish chute kept on getting blocked by large plastic water containers thrown out by the residents. She applied to the council for recycling wheelie bins to be installed in her block, and makes sure the right waste is put in the right bins."
Young Person of the Year
"Sixteen-year-old Janet Sackey from Mill Hill has worked hard over the last two years to represent the views of young people and make sure their needs are high on the Barnet Homes agenda. She is chair of the youth forum and has recently joined the youth engagement panel where decisions are made about funding projects for younger residents."
