Your yearly gas safety check is essential for the safety of your family and your neighbours.
We must check all our gas appliances and pipework for leaks that could cause an explosion or carbon monoxide poisoning that can potentially kill you.
You must allow us to carry out this work as it is a legal requirement. It will take less than an hour of your time and cost you nothing. We also service your central heating system at the same time to make sure it’s safe and in good working condition.
For your annual gas safety check, we will:
• Send you an appointment letter giving you at least five days notice of the date and time we will be visiting.
• Give you a phone number to ring if the appointment is inconvenient, so that you can arrange a more convenient time.
• If you don’t contact us and are not in when we call, we will leave a card asking you to contact us urgently to make an appointment.
If you don’t contact us, you will have broken one of the conditions of your tenancy. We will apply for a court injunction to get into your home and will charge you for the court costs.
As part of the service Village Heating will also do a visually safety inspection of any appliances not installed by Barnet Homes. This is not the same as a service. You must arrange for your own gas appliances to be serviced and provide an annual certificate to show they have been serviced by a qualified engineer.
We will try hard to make appointments that are convenient for you. In turn, please make sure you are at home at the time agreed.
