Barnet Homes

Rent cards

New rent cards were issued to all tenants in the summer of 2010. We have received a number of questions about these.

Why did Barnet Homes send us new rent cards?

We changed the bank we use for rent card payments to make a saving of £20,000 per year.

Why did I receive a rent card, when I pay by direct debit or standing order?

Many residents who pay monthly by direct debit or standing order often like a rent card as a back up. Some also use a rent card in addition to their monthly payment.

Establishing who wants a rent card would have been very costly, so we decided to offer a rent card to all of our residents.

Should I stop paying by direct debit and use the rent card instead?

No, please continue to pay by direct debit. The rent card is a back up facility.

If I pay by direct debit, do I need to complete a new direct debit form?

No, we have only changed our bank details for rent cards.

Why does the rent card only display one name, when we are joint tenants?

The printing company we used could only take the first name from our database. We agreed to first name only as it has no reflection on the tenancy and it was more economical to use this company.
