Like most other London boroughs, we have a shortage of large council properties.
Our Fresh Start scheme aims to increase the number of family homes we have to let. It suits many tenants, such as those whose children have flown the nest, to move to a smaller home with less cleaning and reduced heating bills.
For that reason we offer up to £4,000 to tenants who would like to move from a home with two or more bedrooms to a smaller property. You receive £1,500 for giving up one bedroom, plus £1,000 for each extra bedroom.
We pay an extra £500 if you give up a home with three or more bedrooms for a bedsit or one-bedroom property.
Any
secure tenant living in a home that is too big for them and wanting somewhere smaller can apply.
