Our caretaking service is responsible for maintaining a pleasant and high quality environment on our estates.
Our caretakers’ work includes:
• Removing or reporting litter and graffiti
• Checking door entry systems and lighting
• Cleaning and disinfecting bins
• Checking for safety hazards and reporting communal repairs
• Cleaning and sweeping entrance halls and staircases
• Sweeping hard surfaces and cleaning gullies.
We have three kinds of caretakers:
Resident caretakers
Resident caretakers are based on most large housing estates and generally live on the estate where they work. They are there to keep the estate clean and safe for the residents and are their first point of contact for issues on the estate.
Mobile caretaking
Mobile caretaking teams work across the borough in a fully equipped van. They travel from site to site on a regular basis covering the smaller blocks that do not have a resident caretaker.
Caretaking plus
We introduced Caretaking Plus at the Grahame Park Estate after consulting with residents. The caretakers on the estate clean all the internal and external communal areas on a regular basis, carry out minor repairs and grounds maintenance and also offer a free bulk rubbish collection service to residents.
Contact your caretaker
Contact details for your caretaker should be posted on noticeboards in your block or estate.
If cannot find these details, please contact us.
Grounds Maintenance
The grounds maintenance on most of our estates is looked after by Barnet Council's Grounds Maintenance Team. Barnet Homes also has a small team which looks after some estates and carries out work to improve our estates.
