The work is being carried out by
Avonline (external link), which has carried out similar programmes for other housing organisations.
Most of the works will be carried out externally. However, residents will need to provide access to their homes so that the systems can be connected to the integrated reception system.
All tenants and leaseholders will receive letters to inform them when Avonline will be on site and to arrange access to their homes.
Following the installation of the new system, the old system and any remaining satellite dishes will be removed from the blocks unless you submit a request to retain your dish. You can also request to install a new dish.
Please download, complete and return our
permission form to
talk2us@barnethomes.org.
The form asks you where you would like your satellite dish to be located. We recommend you read the
government's guidance (external link) about this before completing the form.
We will only permit you to have your dish if it is for a service you cannot receive through the communal system.
Please note that we still need access to your home to install a faceplate so that future residents can benefit from the communal digital system.
Charges
There will be a charge for both tenants and leaseholders to cover the cost of works.
For leaseholders we estimate this will be either £220 if externally wired or £350 if internally wired. We will write to leaseholders with more details.
For tenants, the costs will be covered through a small increase in weekly rents - 72p per week.
There are also some houses which receive their television services through a communal aerial. This may be because they are connected to an adjacent block of flats.
In these instances Barnet Homes will ensure residents can keep receiving analogue television until 2012 and also digital television; however they may not receive the full services offered through an IRS.
If you have any questions about the work, please contact Avonline on 0800 6940319 or 0117 9022086. Alternatively, you can
contact us.
