Domestic violence

If you are suffering from domestic violence, please call the 24 Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline 0808 2000 247.

You can also contact us for advice and support.

There are laws to protect you, and there are people who can deal confidentially with your case.

You can report this type of behaviour to the police. Most police stations have a team who are specially trained to deal with crimes involving domestic violence.

Admitting to yourself and others that you are experiencing domestic violence can be very difficult, but it is an important step towards getting protection for yourself and any children.

It is important to remember that it is not your fault and that anyone can experience it.

What we will do

Within 24 hours, we will offer an interview with your housing officer, or a female housing officer, at a time and place to suit you.

We will provide help, advice, guidance and support.

We will work with you and other agencies to get practical help for you and your family.

We can increase your security at home.

We can offer information and advice on your housing options.

We will take legal action against a tenant who is guilty of domestic violence

We can put you in touch with other supportive services such as women’s aid organisations or the nearest police domestic violence unit. They can give you confidential support and advice.

You can find more information in our Domestic violence resource pack.
