A lot of people want to make their home safe and prevent break-ins, but there are a couple of apparent safety measures that can actually put you at risk.

These are:
 
i) placing security gates to the front door of your home
ii) putting your chubb lock on when you are in the property.

These will restrict you in getting out of the property in the event of a fire (having to try to find keys and unlock many bolts in a rush), and will also restrict the Fire Brigade in gaining access.
