Telecare

Missing ALT tag

Telecare is an automatic alert system designed to protect people in their home. As an add on to Lifeline, it can warn and protect against household risks by connecting to:

  • smoke alarms,
  • gas alarms,
  • flood detectors, and
  • door pendants used to summon help at the door.
The Lifeline Centre can respond accordingly.

Although best known for helping older people, modern Telecare offers benefits to:

  • vulnerable workers,
  • people at risk of domestic violence,
  • victims or potential victims of crime, and
  • people who care for others.

Coupled with care plans, this technology:

  • manages risk,
  • promotes independence,
  • gives choice and protection, and
  • improves quality of life.

The Lifeline Centre is running a pilot programme in partnership with Barnet Council. This includes setting up a “smart house” in two local hospitals to demonstrate the various sensors.
