Step 1


Check you meet the criteria

Step 2

Check the timetable, and try and attend a session on the role and responsibilities of Board Directors.

Step 3

Fill in and return your application before the closing date. 

Note: All applications will be checked by the Resident Participation Team to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria.  Applicants will receive confirmation of eligibility to stand for election.

Step 4

Tenant and leasehold candidates will be invited to a public event, which will include a candidates’ question time for residents and a two minute presentation by each candidate.

Step 5

Electoral Reform Services will send out information:

•    listing the candidates for each area, with a photo and short statement or CV
•    setting out the timetable for the elections
•    including ballot papers for areas where there is a choice of candidates.

The new Board directors will be ratified at the Barnet Homes Annual General Meeting following the vote.

The tenants in each area with the highest number of votes will be elected to the Board. The tenants with the second highest number in each area will be a reserve. If a director resigns during their term, the reserve will be appointed for the rest of the term.
