Our Costs

The Government have indicated that they believe that public sector services such as those provided by Barnet Homes can be provided more efficiently. This is often referred to as the Gershon agenda after the report from Sir Peter Gershon from 2004.

The Barnet Homes Board set as one of its key priorities improving Value for Money within the company. As part of the Barnet Homes commitment to maximising efficiency and value for money we have been running a programme of detailed reviews led by the Head of Financial Services.

The reviews have been used to look in detail at:

  • How services are provided,
  • Understanding costs,
  • Identifying the quality of service produced,
  • Comparing to others (often known as benchmarking),
  • Identifying possible improvements,
  • Calculating savings both in money terms and from better performance

As part of this process we believe we should also make you aware of what we have learnt from these reviews and the changes that we have introduced.
