Barnet Homes is managed by a Board made up of council nominees, residents and independent members with professional skills and experience.

The Board is responsible for the overall strategy and performance targets of Barnet Homes, and it monitors progress in achieving these strategic objectives and targets.

Barnet Homes officers are responsible for implementing the strategy and report to the Board.

The duties and functions of the Board include:

• Define and ensure compliance with the values and objectives of the organisation
• Agree a business plan with the local authority
• Agree annual budgets and accounts before publication
• Monitor the organisation's performance
• Agree policies
• Appoint (and, if necessary, dismiss) the Chief Executive and Company Secretary.

In November 2010 the Board approved the disbandment of the former Business and Resources, and Standards and Asset Management Sub Groups.

At the same time, it approved the establishment of a new Audit and Risk Committee. The Terms of Reference for the committee can be found here.
