Official assessment
Barnet Homes was last officially assessed by the Audit Commission in November 2007.
Inspectors found that we are providing a “good, two star service” for residents (three stars being the highest possible score), with “promising prospects for improvement”.
They reported that:
• estates are well cared for, and its repairs service is performing well
• debt and welfare advice is helping tenants keep their homes
• there is a strong, value for money culture throughout the company
• services are customer focused and offer good support to the diverse community

Other achievements
Barnet Homes has:
• achieved more than £4million of efficiencies in housing management and maintenance (end of 2009-10), around 15% of our annual turnover. We estimate that we have made further efficiencies of around £11million on our capital programmes.
• been successful in bids for £7million government funding for major works at the Granville Road Estate, along with £2million from the Homes and Communities Agency for installing cavity wall insulation at more than 1,500 homes.
• gained Charter Mark for our Caretaker Services.
• attracted £175,000 worth of new business such as fitting fire alarms for the fire brigade in the homes of vulnerable tenants.
• become one of the best performing social landlords for income collection, with rent collection of 98.5% in 2008-09
• been granted Two Ticks, officially endorsing us a good employer for people with disabilities
