The Barnet Group’s Income Collection Service has been delivering innovative workshops for people who are struggling with cost of living increases.
The sessions are interactive and engaging, and provide advice on how to make savings and how to budget, as well as looking at what further help may be available on benefits, grants and debt advice.
The workshops have been part-funded by Travis Perkins, through The Barnet Group’s social value contribution programme.
So far, 60 customers have been supported and they have found the course especially helpful. One customer said “Thank you very much for organising such a useful workshop!”.
Future courses will be designed based on feedback from customers so that their varied needs can be met.
Monique Arthur, The Barnet Group’s Senior Income Collection Manager, said: “My team talk to customers every day about financial struggles. With the cost of living crisis, lots of people don’t know where to turn. So we thought let’s see if we can run some courses, with quick wins and tips on money management. We’re so pleased that the courses have been well received; I personally enjoyed taking part in the sessions leaving with a feel good factor, that we have provided help and practical support.”
We would like to thank Travis Perkins for contributing 50% of the costing for this project. Dan Marsden from Travis Perkins said “We were delighted to support The Barnet Group with their cost of living initiative which provided money management training and budgeting skills to 60 residents and their families. Giving residents the skills to manage money effectively and gain control of their finances is priceless.”
