The London Borough of Barnet and Barnet Homes have successfully secured almost £5 million in government funding to cover the cladding replacement works at the Granville Road estate.
It was announced by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) on the 17th October that 12 councils and 31 housing associations were successful in their bids to receive funding for the removal and replacement of unsafe aluminium composite material (ACM) cladding from 135 high rise buildings across the country.
Barnet applied for £4,982,710.13 to cover the removal and replacement of ACM cladding on the three affected blocks at Granville Road: Harpenmead Point, Templewood Point and Granville Point.
Work to remove the cladding at Granville Road began in July 2017, in the immediate wake of the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower. Barnet Homes then subsequently appointed contractors D&B Facades to carry out the works and the replacement cladding is set to be completed at the end of this month. D&B will still be on site until mid December; they will be completing works to reinstate the landscaping following the removal of the scaffold, and undertaking works to the ground and first floor levels of the block once the access equipment is off site. D&B have supported a number of local community events, including the residents association Big Lunch and The Hope of Childs Hill’s Fit and Active day.
