On Wednesday March 7, on the eve of International Women’s Day, a high profile women’s rights organisation recognised Barnet Homes for the work it has done to support women escaping honour-based violence.
IKWRO stands for Iranian, Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation. IKWRO’s work supports women from those communities and beyond, who are at risk of honour-based violence. They are also one of our partners and have a presence at the Barnet Homes’ DV One-Stop-Shop on Thursdays. It is through this partnership Radlamah was able to help a woman flee a forced marriage in Iran and rebuild her life in the UK.
This lead to Radlamah being nominated on behalf of Barnet Homes for a True Honour Award and attending the annual awards ceremony.
As a result of this nomination, at the recent IKWRO True Honour Awards in Holborn, Radlamah’s work was read out in front of an audience of international lawyers, solicitors, campaigners and surivivors with a vested interest in this cause. She was presented with a certificate of recognition from the True Honour awards.
Congratulations to Radlamah, her team and our partners (IKRWO, Solace Women’s AID, Jewish Women’s Aid) involved in the amazing work they continue to do through the Domestic Violence One Stop Shop.
Radlamah is pictured at the official launch of the Barnet Homes Domestic Violence One Stop Shop and Refuge, both of which celebrate their second year anniversaries this year!
