The final eviction of the long term temporary accommodation tenants at Sweets Way took place on Monday 16 February. Barnet Homes has now offered alternative temporary accommodation to all these households.
Eleven of the households who took part in the protest outside Barnet House on Monday requested meetings with senior Barnet Homes Managers to discuss issues around their housing applications and in many cases the offer of accommodation they had received. All eleven meetings were booked for Monday afternoon, and where households did not attend they were followed up by phone. Barnet Homes is working proactively to assist those households who are eligible for housing assistance and who have not turned down an offer of suitable alternative accommodation (i). Three of the eleven households are private sector tenants and have yet to receive an eviction date. Barnet Homes has made arrangements to assess their cases in due course.

(i) Barnet Council’s Allocations Policy states that applicants will receive one offer of suitable alternative accommodation.
